LEGISLATIVE CONTACTS
Our Members Guide Our Outcomes:
We rely on our members for their knowledge and “on the ground” experience to establish positive polices in all branches of state government. The expertise of our members is unmatched, when it comes to shooting straight to the point about how policy impacts will be translated into the real world and impact housing costs.
We encourage our members to build relationships with their area legislators and we encourage you to routinely communicate with them regarding our views on the impact of legislation. Below are contact cards for each local Home Builder Association.

Our Mission:
The mission of the Home Builders Association of Tennessee (HBAT) is advocacy for the residential construction industry, housing affordability and availability.
Our Focus:
HBAT’s focus it to make sure effective policies are implemented on the state level at the Tennessee General Assembly. We scrutinize any legislative policy proposals that could impact the residential construction industry and our members. We use an ongoing committee structure to gather voices from all regions of the state, working to build consensus on proposed legislation. Together we take positions and work toward solutions that preserve and enhance the housing industry.
We also engage in with the Executive branch of State government to ensure that licensing and permitting regulations are clear-cut, achievable and repeatable. We supply information and comments on proposed changes to better inform the various regulatory departments about the real world applications of their proposals.
